Proposal to Increase WIMA Membership Fees

The National Committee gives formal notice that it will recommend to the 2000 AGM that fees be increased from $20 to $25 per annum and from $10 to $15 for new members joining after July 31 in any year.

All members are entitled to vote on this issue. If you cannot come to the AGM in Kiama, please register your postal vote by writing to us at PO Box 121 St Peters, 2044.

Life Member Nominations

Lee Skinner and Angie Trevaskis have been nominated for life membership of WIMA.

Lee has been a member of WIMA since 1984 and was responsible for the rebirth of WIMA NSW where she was state representative for many years and Australian Captain. Since her 'retirement' to South Australia, Lee has been sadly missed.

Angie has been an active member of WIMA ACT for 13 years, holding the office of treasurer for most of that time. She spent many hours working on the incorporation of WIMA, and her most recent car purchase was influenced by the need for WIMA to have a ute for the Caves rally.

New WIMA International Logo Sought

WIMA is seeking a new international logo and WIMA members are encouraged to get creative and submit their designs for consideration. For more information, see our logo design page.

The WIMA Gold Book Project

In 1980 Frances Popley, captain of WIMA UK, produced a history of the first 30 years of the Women's International Motorcycle Association. At that time she had only limited access to information from outside the United Kingdom. As we approach our fiftieth anniversary, it is appropriate that we produce an updated and more comprehensive history, incorporating more detailed material from all the national divisions of WIMA.

To mark our fiftieth anniversary, we hope to publish a history of WIMA, and to include short biographies of pioneering women motorcyclists. If you can help us with information or photographs, we would be most grateful.

There are many ways you can help with this project:

  • Join the virtual editorial committee (this history is being written, coordinated and edited using the world wide web.
  • Send us information about the early days of WIMA. Early photographs and newspaper articles especially welcome.
  • Persuade your organisation to sponsor the project by contributing to the printing and publishing costs.
